Elton H. Wilson of Columbus, Ohio passed away peacefully on April 3, 2023. Elton was born on September 19, 1930, in Somerset Kentucky to the late William and Ethel Wilson. He has been reunited with his husband of over 60 years, Carl W. Eckert (1931-2021) where he was greeted with a hug and a “Oh Elton”. Elton was a graduate of Southeastern High School in Detroit Michigan, class of 1948. He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean war. After leaving the U.S.N. He attended James College in Florida. Elton retired from the Ross Laboratories, where he served as a Budget analyst. He later came out of retirement to work as a massage therapist for the Columbus YMCA. He was a Freemason receiving the rank of Master Mason 3rd degree. He was honored to be able to participate in the Honor Flight Columbus for Veterans in 2019. Both Elton and Carl enjoyed many years touring the US and Canada on their motorcycles. They were also known for volunteering around German Village area and the Holiday Dinner Parties they hosted for all their friends. Their house and lives were always open to everyone. They were members of Gates Fourth United Methodist Church. He was a loving uncle to Sharon (the late Tom) Morawski, David (Rosemary) Wilson, Robert (Karen) Wilson, Marie Farley and the late James Farley (Martha) as well as many great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at Gates Fourth United Methodist Church 119 E. Gates St. Columbus, Ohio on April 30, 2023, at 2:30 pm to honor both Elton and Carl. An internment for Elton and Carl will be held later in East Detroit Michigan with family and friends. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Cat Welfare of Columbus in honor of their cat Pi or send flowers to someone you love.
