Clark Becker
Clark Anthony Becker, March 24, 1968-November 24, 2024. Clark was born in Columbus, Ohio, to Donald and Martha Becker. Clark is preceded in death by his father, Donald. He is survived by his sons, Cameron, Aidan (Iesha), and Larson, as well as his mother, Marty, his siblings and their spouses Tim and Paula Becker and Ron and Cyndi Carnein, his wife, Marla, his nieces and nephews, his friends and other family members.
After graduating from South High School and Otterbein University, where he made some special and lifelong friends, Clark went on to earn his Master’s degree in Music Education at The Ohio State University. He taught music and choir to high school students at his alma mater for more than 25 years, where he was named as a favorite teacher and inspiration by many of his students. He was a member of both the American Guild of Organists and the Shamrock Club of Columbus.
Clark had the pleasure of playing his beloved pipe organ at Gates-Fourth United Methodist Church for many years, and at St. Leo’s Catholic Church before that. Clark’s love of pipe organs was lifelong, and he even worked at Peebles-Herzog, Inc. for a time performing maintenance on pipe organs and installing them. He enjoyed sharing his love for music with everyone and supporting his students, family, and friends musically whenever he could. Clark’s gift for anything musical became evident early on and he spent many years working to become the astonishingly skilled musician he was. Clark could pick up and play virtually any instrument and learn a piece of music after seeing or hearing it once. He loved sports, particularly the Ohio State football and basketball teams and the Columbus Blue Jackets hockey team. He was an avid classic car enthusiast and was the proud owner of a 1965 Chevrolet Corvair. He also made friends and built a second family at Gates-Fourth and was a consistent presence and helper in their community.
Clark was a loving father who supported his three sons in their various passions over the years. Whether it was cheering at Cameron’s various plays, concerts, and blossoming music career in Nashville, giving Aidan space to build and hone his computer skills, or taste-testing Larson’s food as he crafted his love of cooking, he was constantly proud of all of them. They inherited his goofy sense of humor and the four of them knew how to have the most fun anytime they were together.
