1 stick butter/margarine or ¼ to ½ cup bacon drippings
1 small to medium head of cabbage, shredded
1 large or 2 small;; onions chopped
1 pound ground beef, sausage or ham, diced **
½ pound Gates-Fourth noodles, cooked
1 cup sliced carrots, steamed (optional)
½ cup peas ((optional);
Salt and pepper to taste
You will need a large skillet for this recipe.
Boil noodles in salted water until done, about 25 minutes; drain.
Fry ground beef until no longer pink.
Add shredded cabbage to melted butter or bacon dropping in skillet and fry until tender, about 25 minutes.
Add ground beef and noodles, mix well.
Add carrot and peas.
Let mixture fry on low heat for about five (5) more minutes
This is a great side dish as well as a main course.
** Carl uses ham or sausage patties that are left over with great results, for a change.
